Hey, hey, hey everyone 👋. The third ever cohort of Co.Lab Winter 2021 has now concluded! Thank you all so much for sticking with us through our entire journey as well.
This time around, we put 64 strangers into 21 cross-discipline teams to build products that solve real problems for actual users. The results really blew us away. When diverse people from different backgrounds come together and leverage each other’s expertise… that’s true creativity at it’s peak! And we’re so excited to share with you all their hard work!
Get real-world experience to land your dream role in tech. Join us as a Product Manager, Designer or Developer, and put your skills into practice by shipping a real MVP! 🚀
We hosted the Co.Lab Demo Day for our Winter 2021 cohort this past Saturday. 21 groups of motivated Product Managers, Designers, and Developers came together for an opportunity to showcase their products and their learnings on how it feels to actually work together as a team.
Special shout-out to our amazing industry judges that took the time to give feedback and ask insightful questions on our Co.Laborator’s accomplishments (especially in such a short time frame of just a few weeks). Demo Day is truly a time where we celebrate progress and recognize the opportunity to grow.
And as usual, a big congratulations to all ✨ 64 Co.laborators ✨ on accomplishing all that they did during their time with us! They took on the challenge and have emerged victorious!
Demo Day also wouldn’t have been the success that it was without the help of our world-class mentors. They spent countless hours supporting, guiding and inspiring. We are forever grateful! 🥺
So what did teams actually build? Here were just a few of the highlighted teams:
✨ CFTO: a website for Community Fridges Toronto, a community-run network of fridges and pantries offering free food and staples to those in need.
✨ Pomotato: a solution for ADHD go-getters to indulge in controlled distractions, by inspiring users to pursue better break-time activities that help sustain their productivity throughout the day.
🥁 And for a crowd favorite call-out, we have… 🥁
Podball: an app aimed at speeding up the podcast workflow, so that podcasters can focus more on their storytelling goals.
Want to see all of the other shipped products? We’ve got solutions for DEI initiatives within corporations, webapps to locate accessible daycares nearby, and even a platform to share subscription costs! You can take a look at our new Projects page, orrrr we’ve also put all the pitches together in nice little list here. For your viewing pleasure! 🍿
And of course, if you’d like to watch the full Demo Day session, here it is! 👇
We are marching full steam ahead with our upcoming Spring 2021 cohort, with a few changes proposed by our previous Co.Laborators.
Our PM track will stay the same, with the self-guided How to Product course, live workshops and classes, team match and all! No matter where you are in your Product Management career (beginner or aleady working as a PM), join us! You’ll start April 17!
For our Designers, you’ll join shortly on May 1st. You’ll get to work together with your PM to really identify key user personas, start talking to actual customers, and create user cases and user flows.
For our Developers, you’ll get the chance to either be a solo-developer, or work together in pairs to ship a real MVP. You’ll meet the team officially on May 8th, and get started right away with feature estimation and identifying your tech stack!
If you or someone you know is looking to get real-world experience working in a technical product team, with world-class industry mentors supporting you along the way, join Co.Lab for our Spring 2021 cohort!
